It is used for ureteral dilatation, bypassing partial occlusions, drainage/irrigation of the upper urinary tract during surgery, stone removal or retrograde urography (for visualization of intrarenal collecting structures of the renal pelvis and ureters), guidewire placement, and brush biopsy.
