It is a catheter used for feeding a patient who has difficulty in taking liquid or semi-solid foods orally, for example a geriatric or pediatric patient.
It is used for the naso-enteric delivery of nutrients, liquids and drugs in patients whose gastrointestinal tract is uneventful but cannot physically achieve food intake with normal chewing and swallowing. It aims to provide short-term enteral access for the delivery of nutrition and/or drugs to the small intestine.
